Scenic bay Road Neighbors Against Destructive Development
(NADD)
The Town of Sharon voted, knowingly and with full disclosure of the impacts of the water contamination to rezone Rattlesnake Hill to accommodate a massive senior living facility.  Not only did the residents of Sharon vote to contaminate the only drinking water supply for hundreds of people, but the leaders of the Town of Sharon lobbied hard to attain this position.

The Brickstone company filed an alternate plan for Rattlesnake Hill, which Brickstone made clear that they have no intention of executing, for the sole purpose of locking in the senior living facility zoning for 7 years.  This filing was accepted with the aid of a majority vote of Sharon’s planning board although preliminary plans did not comply with planning board standards and final plans included many waivers .

Brickstone continues to ask for changes to the Development Agreement and Zoning.

Highlights of requested changes November 2009
Highlights of requested changes June 2008

Brickstone has not filed for any permits to date.

NOTE:  the potential health hazards posed by pharmaceuticals and personal care products (called PPCPs) are gaining increasing  recognition,  A congressional hearing has been held.  As further testing reveals the extent and toxicity of PPCP contamination, it is more and more likely that  if the Brickstone project moves forward, Sharon will ultimately have to pay large financial settlements for water contamination to neighbors on private wells in Sharon and surrounding towns.
